The UpCountry Children Home started on 06th of March 2001 on the purpose of take care of abandoned gilrs, helpless and street kids from up country of the island. This home registered under (UVA/Pro/Ch/07) and being maintained by Agrarian Estate Workers Congress and Social Assistance organization under observation of Department of Probation and Child Care Services of Uva Provincial Council. In the 19 years history of the home, 69 young ladies have been socialized into the community after a proper care and guidance. There are four graduate teachers, ten diploma holders (teachers) and five nurses in that group as well as others were placed in appropriate places and employed under various government and private firms. Two girls follow their undergraduate studies in Jaffna and Colombo universities. Three are undergoing teachers practices in National College of teachers. At Present, there are thirty girls (Age between 6 years to 18 years) who are admitted by the Court and Department of probation and childcare services reside in the home. They receive their primary and secondary education in Girls high School and Fathima Muslim College in Badulla.
