Supporting Thalam’s Vidiyal Initiative: Youth Capacity Building
Thalam is a youth-led voluntary community organization based in Trincomalee, active for the past eight years. It strives to build a brighter future by nurturing skills, connecting young people with educational and employment opportunities, and fostering a supportive environment for growth. Its mission is to guide youth toward meaningful opportunities while strengthening the social fabric around them.
Thalam’s Vidiyal program supports skill and capacity development of students from marginalized backgrounds who have completed their Advanced Level examinations and are moving towards higher education opportunities. Through this program, participants will be provided with training in English and Sinhala language skills, computer training, soft skills development sessions, career guidance, and personal development training.
The program is planned to be conducted over a period of three months, consisting of two groups with 30 participants in each group. The estimated cost for one group is LKR 200,000/-, making the total estimated budget for both groups LKR 400,000/-.
