Description

The “Give the Gift of Hearing to a Child” initiative, led by the LetUsHelpNow Foundation in collaboration with community organizations, aims to provide essential hearing aids to children in need. These young recipients are carefully selected based on thorough medical assessments. While many children would benefit from receiving hearing aids for both ears, the current phase focuses on providing aid for one ear to maximize impact and reach as many children as possible. Beyond the hearing devices, this initiative also integrates speech therapy and offers ongoing support. By enhancing communication abilities and fostering inclusion, this program transforms the lives of these children, increasing their chances of seamlessly integrating into mainstream society.

This initiative is being undertaken in phases. In phase 4, 3 children received hearing aids.

Phase 4 is being undertaken in collaboration with Reunion of Ninety-Three Batch Inc., Toronto, Canada.  Rs 790,400.00 to Nuffield for this initiative to purchase 3 hearing aids.

The hearing aids were formally handed over to the Principal of Nuffield School by Canadian High Commissioner Eric Walsh during a special ceremony marking the unveiling of the Rainwater Harvesting Tank Project. This impactful initiative was generously funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), showcasing a commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment. The event was a celebration of collaboration and progress, as both projects—the provision of hearing aids and the rainwater harvesting system—stand as testaments to the power of collective efforts in creating meaningful change.

The Reunion of Ninety-Three Batch Inc., Toronto, Canada, was founded to celebrate the enduring bond among a group of individuals who studied in the Sri Lankan Tamil medium and completed their Advanced Level examinations in 1993. Last year, the group came together in Toronto to mark a special milestone—their fiftieth birthday reunion

In the spirit of giving back, the reunion also served as an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. The excess funds collected during the event were generously donated to the LetUsHelpNow Foundation, supporting two ongoing projects in Sri Lanka. This contribution reflects the group’s commitment to uplifting communities and creating positive change, honouring their roots while making a difference in the lives of others.
