Expanding vegetable gardening at Nuffield School

Since 2023/2024, LetUsHelpNow Foundation has been collaborating with Nuffield School for the Deaf and Blind in Kaithady, Jaffna, to build the infrastructure needed to support a large scale gardening and agriculture program at the school. With the support of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), 14 large-scale rainwater harvesting systems were installed in 2023/2024. In addition, gardening activities were initiated, and the school is now planning to expand its gardens. The school has requested LKR 190,000 to help prepare the land, purchase seeds, fertilizer, and equipment. In addition, we will provide funding for prizes to encourage students to participate in a gardening competition between classes. Gardening provides healthy food while teaching students practical farming and valuable life skills.
